I wanted to get the feel of a hot, sunny day into the painting. I used lots of warm colour, even in the shadows, and some thick paint in places too.

Jasper – English Cocker SpanielJanuary 23rd, 2006  Here’s a sketch of Jasper, an english cocker spaniel, lying on the floor looking up at us, probably hoping for a walk or maybe hoping we’ll open a tin for him.
I painted him in acrylics on canvas, trying to get the reflection in that beautiful wooden floor and the blue highlights in his fur.
In this close up of the canvas you can see his beautiful eyes. He is a very handsome dog. I think I would open that tin! |
