Tibetan Terrier – Bella In The Flowers

Bella is a bright and beautiful Tibetan Terrier bitch enjoying a spring day playing in a field of flowers. I wanted to try and get a sense of her lively personality in this painting. I started with a pen and ink sketch.

She was painted in acrylics and gouache on William Turner watercolour paper. I included lots of subtle colours in her coat and brought out her eyes, which otherwise were hidden in shadows.

Jasper – English Cocker Spaniel

Here’s a sketch of Jasper, an english cocker spaniel, lying on the floor looking up at us, probably hoping for a walk or maybe hoping we’ll open a tin for him.

I painted him in acrylics on canvas, trying to get the reflection in that beautiful wooden floor and the blue highlights in his fur.

In this close up of the canvas you can see his beautiful eyes. He is a very handsome dog. I think I would open that tin!

Sasha – American Bulldog

A sketch of Sasha, a beautiful American Bulldog. I think I’m going to do her on hot pink.

Here she is very nearly finished. She’s been painted in acrylics on a fine linen canvas using lots of thin layers of colour. She really is a pretty dog.

I think she looks wonderful against the hot pinks and reds in the sofa, the colours emphasise the delicate pinks and creams in her coat. Its painted in acrylics on fine grained canvas.

Alfie and Ailsa

This hasn’t made it as far as the easel yet, it’s still in the ideas stage. Alfie, a Bengal cat and Ailsa, a Doberman live with Kathryn and their other feline friends. I really like this pose of the two great friends but haven’t decided on the background yet.
