How long it takes me depends both on the medium you choose and on how busy I am. Each pet portrait begins with a discussion of what you are looking for. I'll ask you to send me photos before agreeing to a commission so we can discuss what you want and make sure your photos will do the job. I'll ask for several photos of your dog to work from and I'll do some quick sketches from those so that we can discuss ideas for the portrait. Painted in artists oils on 100% extra fine linen, primed and stretched canvas. It's signed on the front and on the back and comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity. It's a gallery wrapped canvas with painted sides and the staples are on the back of the painting so the canvas can be hung on the wall framed or unframed. An oil painting takes time to dry between layers and I like to build up many thin layers as I paint and so it takes some time complete the painting, about 6-8 weeks is usual.
